The Launceston Travel and Cruise Centre Story
Launceston Travel and Cruise Centre's journey began humbly in Paterson Street, Launceston in July 1989 under the name Tamar Travel. Mark Brown, after 19 years of service with Ansett Airlines in the iconic Holyman House building, sensed an opportunity and branched out on his own. With the demise of Ansett and its subsidiary companies in 2001, Mark purchased three local travel agencies and subsequently merged them before acquiring the Harvey World Travel franchise.
In the second half of 2015, Mark officially retired. His sons Andrew and Baden bought the business and continue to this day as an Associate Member of the national helloworld network of travel agencies. The business is the only Launceston owned family run travel agency still operating in the city.
The change of name to Launceston Travel and Cruise Centre reflects the family owned agency's belief in staying local and supporting locally owned businesses where possible, but behind all this, still being a part of one of Australia's largest travel networks - helloworld.
